How to use Google Analytics to Track Your Website?

Following on from last months video covering using your inbuilt hosting account Awstats stats package, this month I’m showing you an alternative that I highly recommend.

Google Analytics is my preferred choice of free stats packages to track your website progress and give you insight into enhancing your online marketing.

The only downside is that you need to install a piece of code on your website to allow Google to collect data. It’s not that hard, get a tech friend to help you if you aren’t confident, or give us a call.

Using Video to Grow Your Online Business

Recorded at the Brisbane Internet Business Meetup in Feb 2011.

Here are the slides of the presentation in PDF format (right click to download).

There were many more questions about using video on your website that I didn’t include in this video, since it was getting rather long.

Forgive the video quality I used a 12 year old video camera to record this (and had trouble getting the video off the camera onto the computer), but the audio is great since I use my trusty Sony MP3 audio recorder.

This is a prime example of the need to have a HD digital video camera with a hard drive and a good zoom in it for those longer than 20 minute video recordings.

Don’t let the technology stop you, just do something and get it out there. You can fine tune it as you go along.

Testimonial Competition

As I mentioned in the video, simply leave a testimonial as a blog comment by adding your comment below, and I’ll pick a random winner from those that respond to win the $75 Google Adwords credits.

I’ll email the winner with the coupon code, that you simply enter into Google when you join Adwords.

As an extra incentive, I’ll also give the winner some Adwords advice to get their specific business advertised in the most optimal way using the right keywords. Worth way more than the prize itself quite frankly.

Deadline is March 27 midnight for your testimonial submissions.

Good luck and remember a good testimonial is a couple of sentences that lists out a problem you were having and a solution that we fixed. It could be for our Web and Email Hosting or our Web Design or our Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

PS Sorry about the green screen, I’m just breaking in a new HD video camera and didn’t have time to put in a nice background.

PPS Our Web Design still has a 4 month waiting list, but we can squeeze in little jobs (couple of hours) here and there. SEO is ramping up and I have 3 openings to help 3 businesses with their SEO, contact us if you are interested in more info to jump the queue, I’ll be contacting you all about SEO next week.

How to Get Top Google Local Search Results – Part 2

Hi folks

As promised in my previous video that if you showed some interest by commenting on the last blog post I’d take the time to create the step by step how to video in getting to the top of the Google Local Search results.

Here’s the video, check it out, and take my advise and don’t just watch it. Actually implement it.

When you signup for a Google account, they will send you an email that you need to verify by clicking a link to prove you are the owner of that email address. Make sure to verifiy your Google account before you start to setup your local business details.

I’ll be posting more tips like this, so leave me a comment with what you thought of this video

More importantly leave me a comment and tell me what you want to learn about and I’ll make more videos specifically on those topics you ask for.

How to Get Top Google Local Search Results – Part 1

See the video below for the fastest way to get to the top of the search engine results that I know. Using Google Local Search and being listed in Google Maps.

It’s been ages since I’ve contacted my members. Sorry about that. My monthly printed newsletters have gone out the window. All ten of my fingers are in ten different pies at the moment. The newer members to Netrospect can check out all previous newsletters here on the website.

Never mind, I plan to make it up to you. Lots of new things coming up. First up, I plan on using this blog more than I have been, so let’s start with a tip that I should be charging people for.

Every single business owner should be doing this. Point blank, I don’t care what business you are in.

People are searching for local answers to their problems and they want to find someone local, so you best get in front of them and be the answer they are looking for.

Check out the video to see why.

As I mention in the video, if you want me to show you step by step how to get a free local listing setup and optimised for your business then add a comment to this post and let me know.

If I get just 7 comments on this then I’ll publish the full how to video.

Netrospect our new business name has finally launched!

Hi all

Now don’t be freaked out by our name change, everything else remains the same.

Finally after about 6 months of wanting to trade with a new name, we finally made the switch over.

Web Smart Central Pty Ltd, is now the parent company of Netrospect – nothing else has changed, just the name.  So the only place you will see Web Smart Central will be somewhere on your invoices in small print.

Netrospect Australian Web Hosting

Netrospect – which is a play on words between the internet and retrospect

I’m sure you’re the same, but I know I always find myself saying, if only I knew what I know now, back then… 🙂

And hearing people say “In retrospect we should always have hosted our website and emails with you guys”

There are still some minor name changes to the stationary to go, but it’s business as usual.
